This is my final piece for my hippy project. we had to do a type of fashion and i chose the psychedelic look. my main dress is my drawing of a pattern i have developed, i printed this design onto one of my tie dyes that i had made. the other four on the other sides of the dress is the same dress but i scanned it into photoshop and altered the colours so they is more than one pattern but with the same design on it. i was very pleased with the final designs :).
this is a close up of the main dress on my final piece. on this one you can see more clearly the design i did and the tye die in the background.
This is done with ink, i like this because its very quirky, this was a development idea in my sketchbook.
This idea is one of my favorites because its very detailed. i did all of this in bright coloured gel pens. i got the idea from the brand miss sixty, but i have done my own ideas on it .
I was experimenting on this with ink, to see the difference of it on material rather than paper, i think this came very nicely and you can clearly see that it has a psychedelic look to it.
These are my lino prints, you have to carve using a special knife into the lino and create your pattern, then paint them, then you can print them onto your page. i think these have come out very well and neat.
This is the same but with a different pattern i have done and the bottom of this image i have platted a flowery material together, to make a head scarf which are very popular with hippies :)
This is one of my lino prints but i have printed it on material, i think they look better printed on paper but still like it on material.
I like this because its effective but simple, this is done in oil pastel. i did this because i was experimenting different pattern ideas working up to my final piece.
Another idea for a pattern on my final piece. this one is very busy and colorful and more exciting than the one above.
The technique used here is called silk and salt, you can do this by getting some silk as it wont work on any other material, use fabric ink and while it is wet put large salt crystals and wait for them to draw all the ink up so you can get the full effect. i think this worked really well with my theme because the inks are bright and colorful and you get a weird quirky pattern created on them.
This is a close up of one of my silk and salt experiments.
Collograph printing, i made my own collage with cardboard, string and patterned wall paper. the main part in this image is the guitar, you paint over the collage once its finished and dryed then print it.
This is the result of collograph printing. I thought mine worked really well. you can see all the detail really clearly.
Dry point printing, to do this you get a plastic plate and carve into it with a sharp pointed tool and then spread etching ink very thinly and get rid off any excess ink and use soaked paper in water and dry it off with a tea towel then press your print. i did my own design on this influenced by miss sixty, i used the colour orange to go with the bright colours i would be needing to match my theme, this also worked really well and is neat and detailed.
This is my tie dyeing i did about 5 different patterned ones, i got some material and wrapped elastic bands round it in all kind of different ways, you have to soak them in coloured ink then wait for them to dry, then change the elastic bands round then do it again but with a different colour dye, and repeat through as many colours as you like. i was really pleased with the out come and used one of them in my final piece.
A close up of one of my finished tie dyes that i did.
Image maker, i drawn this image out my self then photo copied it. to do this you have to put the image maker on your image, press it down hard on your fabric, wait for it to dry then rub all of the paper off. i like this technique but don't think it has the same effect lino prints and dry point prints they are more colourful and suited to my theme.
These are the actual lino prints i used, you can see where i have carved into them and painted them ready to be printed.

DISNEY PROJECT
This was my final peice for this project i tottaly changed the idea of mickey mouse been for children and turned him into a more adult dangerous mickey. i have him locked up behind bars with 3D hands which are made out of cotton wool with paint coverering them and got the bars of an old barbeque. he has scares and cuts on his face too.
This evolutionary mickey mouse board is an development idea showing how mickey mouse first ever looked like and how he has changed through the years to how he looks like today. they is quite a dramatic difference in them because the shape of of his nose has changed, plus today he is in allot of colour and back in the day he was only in black and white, people may say he has been disneyfied.
This is a pencil crayon drawing of tiger out of winey the pooh, this is ideas in my project working up to my final piece.
Another idea leading up to my final piece, done in pencil crayon.
This is a primary source drawing of an mickey mouse teddy bear that i have painted.
This was a smaller version of the development idea that i did in large scale.
Basically the same as the evolutionary mickey mouse but with winnie the pooh instead, he has also changed allot through out the years and has been disneyfied.
This is me experimenting which ways i could present the evolutionary mickey mouse.
Now i have started to do my own this with mickey mouse by taking him completely away from PG to adults entertainment instead, the evil horror look for mickey mouse.
Back to the PG, but with my own touch on him with different clothes and a totally different scene to where he is originally seen in, its mickey mouse abroad :D
I really liked the idea of putting mickey mouse in prison, so i decided to work more and more to get to my final piece with the prison scene. this painting what i have done is in acrylic paint.
I got this idea of berty basset. i have combined berty basset and mickey mouse together this could be used for children to see, but i preferred the prison idea so moved on quickly from this.
Mickey mouses mug shot. done in pencil crayon looking very sad and lonely.
Been taken away in a police van on his was too prison, i was experimenting different ways to show the bad side of mickey mouse. this is done in oil pastel.
In prison behaving badly smoking an illegal drug outside near the gates. this shows a good effect on the bad side of mickey mouse. not a good influence at all.
With this painting that i have done i have used more materials to make it stand out more and look more harsh. i have added actual nails fitted in around mickey mouse and his gun. this is done mainly in acrylic paint and abit of oil pastels to shade and line.
I have added barbed wire to this painting to try and make it look like bars, i didn't think this was effective enough and thought i needed something allot stronger and eye catching.
I love the out come in this project this is the final piece but in mini, these bars i cut from a barbecue and the 3D hands are cotton wool but with paint over them to show that there his hands gripping on to the bars.
Some artists influenced me in this project such as scott Gordon who also does prison scenes as his drawings but his are mainly in black and white and are not of cartoons.
